Founded T.P. Howard’s Plumbing in 1983, driven by a commitment to provide quality plumbing services and better working conditions for employees. A native of Western North Carolina, Pat attended Montreat College and the University of North Carolina at Asheville (UNCA). After beginning his career in plumbing locally, Pat found himself at odds with his employer over the lack of employee benefits, which ultimately inspired him to start his own company. With a strong belief in supporting his team, Pat made it a priority to offer benefits to every employee at T.P. Howard’s Plumbing, ensuring their well-being while growing a successful business.

Corporate Secretary and wife of Pat Howard. She has been an integral part of TPH since its founding. In her role as Corporate Secretary, Barbara plays a crucial role in the company’s operations. As a first-generation owner alongside Pat, she has contributed significantly to the company’s growth and success. The business is based on the family farm in Fairview, NC, where Barbara was raised. She attended both the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and Western Carolina University before marrying Pat. Barbara’s dedication and unwavering commitment to TPH have been vital to its continued success.

Jake Howard

Jake has been an integral part of T.P. Howard’s Plumbing for 13 years, joining the team shortly after graduating from Western Carolina University. With 8 years of hands-on experience in the plumbing field, Jake transitioned into a leadership role within the company. He now serves as the Vice President of our Commercial Division, where he plays a pivotal role in driving the success and growth of this area. Additionally, Jake oversees part of our Charleston Division, contributing his expertise to ensure continued excellence in service and operations.

Rick has been with TPH since its inception, playing a crucial role in the company’s early days. Alongside Pat, Rick handled all service calls in the beginning, helping to lay the foundation for TPH’s success. Growing up together playing ball and attending Montreat College, Rick and Pat’s bond has remained strong over the years. Born and raised in Weaverville, NC, Rick now serves as Senior Vice President of TPH, where his leadership and experience continue to shape the company’s growth.

Barney joined TPH as Chief Financial Officer in December 2023. A native of Virginia, Barney is a certified CPA, having held his license since 2009. With over 15 years of experience in financial management, he takes care of all the company’s financial numbers, ensuring accuracy and strategic planning. Outside of his professional role, Barney is a devoted family man with a passion for music.

Nate has been an integral part of the TPH team for seven years. A native of Fairview, NC, Nate grew up alongside Josh Howard, our President. As Chief Operating Officer, Nate is responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the company. He oversees all HR functions, including hiring, scheduling, and ensuring that each team member is performing their role efficiently and effectively. Nate’s organizational skills and leadership play a key role in maintaining a productive work environment.

Originally from Cleveland, NC, Will Lytle lived in Asheville for 10 years before relocating to Charleston in September 2024. He has been with TPH for 9 years, starting as a Part-Time Plumber’s Helper in 2016 and becoming a full-time team member in 2017. Over the years, Will has gained experience as a drain/service technician and in commercial plumbing. He split his time between service and commercial plumbing while based in Asheville. Will now serves as Vice President of the Charleston Division, leading operations and ensuring top-quality service.

Danny Dash has been with TPH for five years, leading our Utility department with dedication and expertise. With 27 years of experience in the utility industry, Danny brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong background in managing utility projects. Originally from South Florida, he has been a proud resident of the Western North Carolina area for the past 16 years.

As Vice President of Utilities, Danny oversees all aspects of the utility division, including estimating, project management, and ensuring smooth operations. His leadership ensures that every project meets the highest standards of efficiency, safety, and quality. With a proven track record of success, Danny continues to drive growth and innovation within the utility sector at TPH.

Originally from Orlando, Florida, John is a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Building Construction. His career includes notable projects such as the expansion of the Gator’s stadium and the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World. Having relocated to North Carolina 10 years ago, John continues to apply his expertise and passion for construction to deliver exceptional results at TPH.

Matt has been a valuable T.P. Howard’s Plumbing Co., Inc. team member for the past year. Originally from Hendersonville, NC, Matt brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as a Superintendent for a General Contractor. In his current position as a Project Manager/Estimator in the Commercial Division, Matt plays a key role in overseeing plumbing projects across North and South Carolina. Throughout his career, Matt has contributed to numerous high-profile projects. Most recently, he worked on the Rivian project in Duncan, SC. His expertise in project management and estimating ensures that each project is executed efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards.

Joey recently joined TPH as a Project Manager and Estimator for our Charleston division. A Charleston native, Joey spent nearly two decades in Japan before returning to the Lowcountry. He brings with him a strong background in mechanical project management and a lifelong connection to the plumbing industry, having learned the trade from his father, a master plumber.


Joey plays a vital role in both estimating new projects and supporting field operations, embodying a hands-on, “whatever it takes” approach to getting the job done. His blend of technical knowledge, field experience, and commitment to excellence makes him a valuable asset to the TPH team.

Jordan Ison

Jordan serves as a Project Manager in the Commercial Division at TPH. Originally from Kingsport, TN, he has lived in Western North Carolina for the past five years. Before joining TPH, Jordan was the CEO and founder of a plumbing company in Asheville, NC, where he focused on residential new home construction and renovations.

With five years of experience in the plumbing industry, Jordan’s day-to-day includes visiting jobsites to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently. He also builds and maintains strong relationships with general contractors, fellow project managers, and TPH employees to support successful project delivery.

Koby holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, which he earned in 2021, and a Master’s degree in Business Communication & Leadership from High Point University, which he completed in 2022. Chris, who was born and raised in Etowah, NC, has been with TPH for 15 years. He began his career as a Plumber’s Helper under Josh Howard. He quickly advanced to the role of Head Plumber, overseeing all plumbing operations for the Carolina Village and Sierra Nevada projects. For the past two years, Chris has transitioned to an office role as a Project Estimator, where he continues to contribute his extensive field experience and expertise to TPH’s success.

During his tenure, Vance also obtained his backflow license, further expanding his skill set. Most recently, he has earned his backflow licenses in both South Carolina and Charleston, SC. Vance’s dedication to professional growth and quality service makes him a key member of the TPH team.
